Meet Wish Kid Eloise, Age 13, 2025
“I wish to go to Atlantis in the Bahamas”
Eloise's favorite things are:
The colors light pink and green, Chinese food, Chick-Fil-A, vanilla lemon cupcakes, origami, Dungeon and Dragons, sour cream and onion chips, cats, dogs, taking walks, riding her bike, watching TV, playing videogames, playing board games, and learning about the culture of the Bahamas.
Can you share about your medical journey?
Eloise has CF and has suffered with severe sinus disease which has caused her to need several surgeries. She has taken medication since she was 2 days old. Her disease affects her whole body, so she has to do daily breathing treatments and has to take a lot of pills every day to keep her healthy. She sees the doctor at least every 3 months, as long as things are going well. It is isolating because CF kids aren't allowed to socialize in person because of the risks of spreading bad bacteria.
Why did you choose your wish?
Eloise chose the Bahamas because she loves the beach, the ocean, and to explore. When she found out that there are ruins and historical sites from the days of pirates, she was very excited. She is looking forward to a historical tour in the Bahamas to be able to see some of the well known sites. Both of the girls are really excited about the lizards we've heard about! She is also super excited to try the local cuisine and experience the culture!
What does a wish mean to you?
To Ellie, a wish means a chance to let go and be free for even just a moment in time. It's a chance to enjoy each other as a family and go on an adventure together. It's a chance for her to be celebrated and to acknowledge that life is really tough sometimes. Ellie said that it's so wonderful and exciting because she feels seen, important, and loved by people other than our own little family.
